As “India’s first internet SUV,” the MG Hector debuts with a substantial value proposition and a long list of goodies. Along with a hybrid powertrain that highlights its relevance in the sector, it provides excellent comfort. The model’s motto, “It’s A Human Thing,” is elevated with connectivity features like iSmart technology, AI-powered voice assistance, and a 48V mild hybrid system.
Technology in MG Hector
Owners of the Hector can access real-time data on their smartphones thanks to the next-generation technology app from MG iSmart and connected car technology. The function allows for geo-fencing, tyre pressure monitoring, and location tracking for the SUV. The app provides access to lock/unlock the doors, turn on the ignition, and start the air conditioning. Owners can schedule an SUV service appointment and view the service history of their vehicles using the app.
Voice Assist is the MG Hector’s most alluring connectivity feature.
Nuance used artificial intelligence and machine learning to ensure that Hector responds appropriately by synchronising with the Indian accents. Activate Hector’s voice assistant by saying “Hello MG.” It is capable of more than 100 tasks, such as opening and closing the windows and sunroof, as well as controlling the navigation and climate control systems. According to MG, poor connectivity is not a problem for assistance.
Engine & Performance
The MG Hector, the company’s first compact SUV, marks an important step in MG’s effort to make a hybrid powertrain more widely available. The hybrid technology used by the model combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 48-volt system. With such a sizable battery-powered system, according to MG, fuel economy improves by 12% and CO2 emissions are cut by 11%. In addition to many other features, the system has idle start-stop, E-boost, and regenerative braking.
The engine options on the compact SUV include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 2.0-litre diesel unit. In particular, MG states that the hybrid model with an ARAI certification has a fuel efficiency of 15.81 kmpl.
